Hayo de Feijter M.Sc General Manager Hayo de Feijter first obtained his B.Sc. at the HAS Den Bosch in crop science. After the HAS he studied at Nyenrode University, The Netherlands business school where he obtained his Master's degree in General Management. After Nyenrode he embarked on a trip around after which he went to work in China where he among others also established his own company in the production of vegetables as well as delivering consultancy services with the emphasis on large scale farming. Through his work in China he got involved in switch grass to bio-ethanol production as well as Jatropha production. Besides China he also worked in Australia, Bangladesh and Egypt.                                                            James Michael, Chemical Process Engineer / Factory manager James Michael is the Chemical expert in the Diligent TZ team. He as a BSc. degree in Chemical and Process Engineering of the University of Dar-es-Salaam (USDM) and has done his final year project on biodiesel, the development of a biodiesel production unit. This project has given him a lot of knowledge on subjects like; types of biodiesel production processes, biodiesel specification and properties, feedstock preparation processes and storage and product quality. He joined the Diligent team in November 2006 and is responsible for all laboratory services. This includes testing the quality of different oil (FFA, viscosity etc.), making biodiesel and testing for example the oil content in seeds or seedcake. He feels Diligent is 'a very promising company. Working for Diligent enables me to put my knowledge into practice which I like very much.'   Allen Taeku, Senior Field Officer Allen Taeku is also one of the first Field Officers working for Diligent. His task is to cover new areas and expand the number of Jatropha trees planted. He goes out on his motorbike or by car every day to talk to the farmers and identify potential new areas. He has meetings with village leaders, school board members and other important persons in the village to get their support as well. As guaranteeing a market to the farmers is very important for a plant which takes about two years to mature, he always goes out with our contracts, offering a guaranteed market and fixed price for the Jatropha seeds. He recently started a computer course, together with Wilson, to be able to record his findings more efficiently.   Joseph Laizer, Field Officer Joseph Laizer is born in the Masaai village Selela, close to the Ngorogoro conservation area. In this region the plant is well known because it is grown for a long time as fence preventing animals to enter the farm plots. He motivates farmers in this area to plant more Jatropha as with more seeds the farmers can increase their income.   Adam Edwards, Driver/Field Officer Adam was born in Arusha. Being a driver for Diligent brings him to different regions in Tanzania, as the people in potential areas need to see the Diligent Car which is modified to run on Straight Jatropha Oil. He is also a field officer in training, and assists the Field Officers in seminars for example on markets. 'From my heart i love Diligent and I have a chance to learn more about field work which it wasn't before. I'm also having a training to improve my English so that I can communicate easier with the Diligent visitors and staff. The entire Diligent staff is working as a real team and this is what i really like.'     Diwani, Operator Diwani is the machine operator and makes sure the production process runs smoothly. This production process includes a variety of processes, from oil extraction to the refinement of the oil and the different processes in producing useful products from the seedcake. 'I like my company because it has good management.
